Dr. Jan Golombiewski is an architect who bridges psychology with building design. Due to his expertise, he is often sought after for designing healing spaces. Still, his approach to designing our environment is much broader and more fundamental than just hospital or treatment center design. We extensively discussed the concept of "affordance" and how it manifests in architectural planning. We talked about the difference between an architectural design that engages with possibilities versus one that deals with boredom and, in fact, with the absence of design. We also explored the salutogenic approach, how it enriches our thinking and relates to our environments, and how architecture can be advanced to bring us more happiness, fulfillment, and well-being.
